2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard Wins Energy Points
Washington, DC, May 9, 2008 – The 'Class A' 2000 Tower Oaks Blvd., scheduled for completion this fall, is the first building in Maryland to receive the label "Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR."
The building obtained 87 points out of a possible 100 in the Environmental Protection Agency's energy performance rating system, with an energy reduction of 41 percent.
The 198,000-square-foot building, off Interstate 270 in Rockville, was developed to achieve Platinum certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
It will use energy-efficient air quality systems and natural lighting to reduce energy demand. All of the building's electric will be purchased from wind-generated power sources, and a portion of the site will become a 14-acre woodland preserve.
The co-developers are The Tower Companies and Lerner Enterprises. Kishimoto.Gordon.Dalaya PC did the design.
